Our first stop was to view an abandoned stretch of the Will Rogers Turnpike, left behind when it was rerouted for a direct link to the Creek Turnpike.

First view at this stop was the abandoned connection to OK 66, viewed from current OK 66. The former turnpike mainline continued as I-44 (free) west of OK66.

Later on this stop we went down Pine Street to where it crosses the old turnpike.

View east on the old turnpike

Catoosa OK: home of the "Fart Smock." :)

Westbound view on the old road

Centerline reflector, compare in size to the shoe of the dude stepping on it

Guide sign for the OK 66 exit, in remarkably nice condition.

Westbound view along the eastbound shoulder

Westbound view with clearer view of guard posts

Westbound view along median barrier. It appears to have a gap for use by police on motorcycles.

View of bridge: the "1.3" appears to have been hand-lettered on duct tape.

Another eastbound view after climbing back up to Pine. The exit guide sign is barely visible in the background.
